Teacher Appreciation Week: Giving Back

Among the year-end rush and summer fever that students and teachers share, May is also the time that we thank our educators for their dedication, and for the lasting impact they have on our childrens’ future.
Teacher Appreciation Week is the first week of May, and it’s coming up fast.
Having been a PTA president, I know how important it is to support our educators year-round with resources they truly need. Among fundraisers and other activities, Teacher Appreciation Week stands out as a time when we can personally thank them. Our PTA often struggled with finding a gift that would have the greatest impact. Plaques, gift cards, food baskets…what would they really use? And what could we afford?
Had it been around when I was there, an abcteach membership would have been a hugely popular choice. Although similar to our free site, the membership site has so many additional features, and 6x the amount of materials. Members have unlimited access to abctools and an outstanding clipart library, and they can now tap into the technology of PowerPoints and interactive files. “You would have thought I had given them gold,” was a comment that I received from a principal who purchased abcteach memberships for all of her teachers.
You can probably tell that I have a personal bias towards our site, but that’s because I so firmly believe in the value of abcteach. I present to universities, prepare conference materials, and create worksheets for our members. It’s not just a job to me; it’s an opportunity to stay active in the field that I love, and a daily way to give back.
With Teacher Appreciation Week quickly approaching, you may want to consider abcteach. We’re even offering a free one-month trial for PTA/PTOs to test drive discounted group memberships. Teachers, if you think this is something that you would like, let your PTA or PTO know. And if you ever have questions, or need ideas for PTA/PTO-themed activities, please don’t hesitate to write.
